I am sure that if you have had the least bit of interest in social media marketing, then you have heard as well that planning ahead your content is very important. Yet, what kind of content works and what will fail can still come as a total surprise. I discussed this recently with a former colleague who specializes on social media and even she said that despite planning ahead and trying to learn from the past, social media is full of surprises.
What I can tell you from my own experience is that what worked well once, might not work again at all. And some spur of the moment share of something very basic and plain can attract a lot of positive attention.
Still it is good to take the time once or twice a month and try to prepare the bigger part of the content you plan to use. I do it to the level of almost final copy, because at the day when publishing something will actually make sense you might have nothing prepared, no time or just have a bad writing day. Those happen just like bad hair days, believe me! So it is better to write when you feel that words just fly off your tongue and keyboard.
Despite planning, I always leave room for some unexpected content. You never know when something exciting will come up and rather than risking with bombarding your followers with too much info in a short period, I prefer to fill in some holes later or just leave them.
I plan to show you some ready made posts together with results later on, but here is a sneak peak at my real used Facebook calendar.
